| Your Dollars at Work in Haiti.

More than 550 people called into the United Way of Tampa Bay phone bank on Jan. 15 to help the victims of the Haitian earthquake. Our friends at WFLA NewsChannel 8 provided the space, the technology and the air time and by the end of the two and a half hours, you responded with close to $30,000.
Our corporate partners responded too, with donations of funds and supplies. All together, the Tampa Bay community sent $158,000 of their hard-earned dollars to help the residents of the devastated country through United Way of Tampa Bay. Through our partnerships with organizations on the ground in Haiti, our $158,000 is being used for:
- Water purification system (served 480 people)
- Medical lab tests for clinic patients (for a one-month period)
- Wheelchairs for 200 patients unable to walk out of 18 hospitals/clinics
- Houses built for 16 families
- Food, water, and medical supplies provided to orphanages/children
Thank you for your generosity and for entrusting your United Way with your donations. |
